THREE Wycliffe Preparatory School girls won a team gold at the National Schools Biathle Championships.

Rachel Hatherell, Evie Green and Millie Porter won the Year 7 team title at the competition held at Leweston School in Sherborne, Dorset.

Rachel, from Wotton-under-Edge, won individual bronze in the Year 7 race with Evie, also from Wotton, placing fourth and Millie, from Malmsbury, placing ninth.

“We had a very good team and had three people in the top 10 so we are pleased,” said Rachel.

The girls, who attend Wycliffe in Stonehouse, are all members of Cotswold Pentathlon Club.

In the competition they must run 500m, swim 50m and then run 500m.

“We all play hockey together, train together and are good friends,” said Evie. “We support each other.”

The trio hope to return next year to win the gold in the Year 8 category.

Mr Adrian Palmer, Head of Wycliffe Prep School, said: “We are very proud of their achievement. The girls worked incredibly hard and are a credit to their school.”
