Brimscombe and Thrupp 1

Forest Green 0

MINNOWS Brimscombe and Thrupp shocked National League big guns Forest Green.

A crowd of more than 500 watched former Shortwood United and Cheltenham Town youngster Joey Tustain nod home a late winner to hand Sam Prior’s Hellenic Premier Division outfit the derby day bragging rights over Ady Pennock’s side.

Earlier ,it was two former Forest Green fledglings who made the early running - Johnny Brodie couldn’t connect with Ash Brown’s intelligent reverse pass.

Rovers’ nerves settled, but Kurtis Guthrie cut a frustrated figure when his goal was ruled out.

Guthrie was prevented from breaking the deadlock once again when Steve Sparrow produced a fined stop after he had initially failed to hold onto Keanu Marsh-Brown’s teasing cross.

Meanwhile, Aaron O’Connor’s acrobatic overhead kick went over after the ball had fallen to him from a Guthrie header.

Pennock made ten changes at the break, but the game continued to lack a spark.

James Jennings, playing as a central defender, rocketed a header wide.

Sparrow was also made to produce another good stop as he beat away David Pipe’s long-range effort.

With the match seemingly cruising towards a goalless draw, Tustain struck to complete a memorable victory.

He latched superbly onto Ben Snook’s deep cross and nodded beyond Forest Green goalkeeper Paul White.
