Hellenic Premier Division
Brimscombe & Thrupp 4
Wokingham and Emmbrook 1
NEW Brimscombe boss Sam Prior got the season off to a flying start.
His side made light work of Hellenic Premier Division newcomers Wokingham and Emmbrook at a sun-kissed Meadow.
The Lilywhites got off to a flying start and were 2-0 up inside three minutes.
Within a minute Ben Snook was fouled just inside Wokingham’s half, the short free- kick to Matty Blythe was quickly passed into front man Karl Nash, cleverly he turned his man and drilled the ball across the face of the box, where Snook finished with aplomb.
The goal tide continued - Christian Turner making it 2-0 with a header Wokingham got themselves back in the game on 22 minutes; a free- kick just inside the Brimscombe half was pumped deep to the back post, where Jake Butler looped his header over the stranded Steve Sparow.
However, the Lilywhites made it 3-1 on 30 minutes. Greenough bagged his second from a Nash corner.
Brimscombe’s eye-catching start to the season saw Turner ping a 40 yard ball to Nash, who produced a lovely bit of skill to beat his player and deliver a delicious cross for Deakin to strike.
