ANOTHER nail-biting finish saw Sam Bracey and Ross Martin smashed 16 from the final over to guide champions-elect Frocester to a four - wicket Premier One victory over Corsham.

Nick Trainor’s side have posted 10 straight league wins and are moving closer to regaining their title, with a 35-point cushion at the top of the table.

Corsham batted first and made a solid start against Muchall and Furley. The opening partnership was worth 66 in 13 overs when Martin had Bullen caught behind for 34.

At 95 for one from 19 overs, Corsham looked set for a big score, but Martin captured two wickets and then Sam Birch began a very economical spell, bagging 2-27 in 10 accurate overs that restricted the Corsham scoring rate.

Even big hitting Mike Coles could not find the boundary with any regularity.

Once he was caught by Ashley Davis for 40, Corsham had reached 153-4 off 36 overs.

Eventually the Corsham batsmen hit out in the final overs to take the final total to 237 for five.

Uzi Quereshi and Javen Khan started confidently for Frocester, with the Corsham seam attack leaking plenty of extras.

However, Khan was surprisingly bowled playing no shot and Quereshi was leg before for 21 to leave Frocester at 54-2 from 11 overs.

However, Paul Muchall and Tom Wand produced a great partnership of 117, which appeared to put Frocester well on course for victory.

Nonetheless, Wand fell caught in the covers for 74 with the total at 181 for three.

Muchall was adjudged leg before for 19 runs.

Trainor and Louis Gegg picked up plenty of singles, but hitting boundaries suddenly became difficult.

Both batsmen found the safe hands of Coles on the boundary and 17 runs were required from the final two overs.

Only three came from the penultimate over, so 14 were required from the final over.

Martin’s reverse swept the first for four and then drove to long on for a single.

The third delivery was a head high full- toss, a no ball, which Bracey smashed for six, worth seven in total. The field came in and Bracey smashed another boundary for victory.
