Swindon Supermarine 2
Shortwood United 0
SWINDON Supermarine's perfect start to their Evo-Stik League Southern Division One South and West campaign continued as they defeated Shortwood United 2-0 at the Webbs Wood Stadium.
Striker Ryan Stanners netted in each half.
The opener came just after the half hour mark as Stanners finished at the far post following good work between former Swindon Town and Gloucester City striker Connor Waldon and Joe Shepherd.
The points were wrapped up 10 minutes from time as substitute Oli Bailey teed up Josh Morse, whose shot was blocked allowing Stanners to finish.
The Nailsworth side had their chances with James Singh, John Cant and Tim Haddock all going close.
Joint-manager John Evans felt his side put in a ‘good shift’ against a strong Marine outfit.
He said : “They were the better side, but we put a good shift in, but we have to do better in the final third of the pitch.
“ We were better in the second half, but all credit to them though.”
Shortwood: King, Rawlings, Cant (Humphreys 67), Lewis, Haddock, Bennett, Singh, Parrott, Lee (Meredith L 76), White (Peare 56), Price.
Star Man: Jake Parrott.
