GLOUCESTER Rugby’s Steph Reynolds has already been touted as the one to watch at this month’s Singha Premiership Rugby 7s and the 21-year-old is relishing the chance to live up to the hype on home turf.

The Cherry & Whites have won the competition in each of the last two years, with Reynolds among the star turns in 2014.

The Singha Premiership Rugby 7s is the only competition this season where you will see the 12 Premiership Rugby clubs taking on the four Welsh Regions.

He lit up the tournament last year by running the length of the field to touch down against Cardiff in the semi-final, leading senior team-mate Henry Trinder to tip him for another big tournament this time around.

And Reynolds is determined to shine once more.

“As soon as you get the shirt on you’re looking to impress the coaches. Hopefully we can do that on the night,” said Reynolds.

“I’m very excited about the Singha Premiership Rugby 7s. I mean the first thing you look at on the calendar when you go in for pre-season is for the sevens and speaking to the boys they’re very excited it’s back at Kingsholm.

“This is my third year playing now and all my rounds have been at Kingsholm. Running out to a packed out Shed at Kingsholm is something else.

“It doesn’t matter what you play at Kingsholm whether it’s sevens, LV= Cup or Premiership, it’s always a mad atmosphere and I’m very much looking forward to it.”

Gloucester have been drawn in Group B alongside Exeter Chiefs, Bath Rugby and London Irish, with all matches set to take place at Kingsholm on August 20.

The top two teams in each of the four groups will move on to the quarter-final stage at the Twickenham Stoop on August 28.

And Reynolds believes his side can make it three on the trot.

“Sevens is all about pace and non-stop action,” he added.

“If we can keep hold of the ball for long enough and work hard, we’ll win like we have done previously.

“If we work together as we have done in the past few years and look after each other and have a real go for it, I think we’ll be alright.

“We really want to go out there and enjoy ourselves really.”
