CONFIDENCE is growing! You can sense it. Not just on the pitch but off it as well.

Matches are anticipated not with hope but with expectation. Results prove it of course but the reasons for success are greater than five wins and fifteen points. The wins against Boreham Wood and Lincoln City prove that.

One win away, and one at home against two very different teams have told us so much about our table-topping team. We have met different challenges and come out on top.

Boreham Wood are a good side, good enough to go to Tranmere and win by two clear goals, but not good enough to beat Forest Green, even when playing at home, yes we had to defend and do something more difficult, snatch a goal but three was done, and three valuable points won.

Three more points were gathered against Lincoln, but in very different fashion, starting at a high tempo (and maintaining it) Rovers did not let Lincoln settle. More importantly they did not let the visitors bully them.

Lincoln are a big side, awkward to play against and aim to dominate physically. Against the Rovers side there was never any chance of that happening. Aarran Racine and Dale Bennett stood firm at the heart of defence.

They have been outstanding all season. The aggressive Matt Rhead with four goals already this season was played out of the game. Racine had an injury plagued start at Rovers but now he is showing us just how good he is.

He typifies the resolve that is apparent throughout the team. Our management have encouraged our players to take responsibility and to think for themselves. This they are definitely doing.

Showing energy and dash all over the field Rovers were well worth their Saturday win. Midfielders Rob Sinclair and Sam Wedgbury never let up hurrying and chasing everywhere, being an asset in defence and attach.

Forwards offer so much, Keanu Marsh-Brown offers moments of supreme skill, Aaron O'Connor is always a threat and Kurtis Guthrie is a revelation in so many ways. A word now about Jon Parkin.

Within seconds of coming on as sub he set up Marsh-Brown for his goal praised by manager Ady Pennock for being a fine presence in the dressing room, Jon has much to offer on the field as well. Remember his work in defence and his contributions when he comes deep. His son Oliver made a marvellous mascot, joining in the players warm-up routines.

I was disappointed with Lincoln. They are knows as "The Imps". Could this be short for impoverished? They had nothing to offer in the way of creativity.

The day as a whole was fine, a good programme a good lunch and a well deserved win. There is so much to look forward to at Kidderminster apart from the cottage pie.

There will be the chance to meet up with old friends Reece Styche and Jared Hodgkiss and perhaps another three points.

Then for Bromley and a bumper New Lawn crowd on Bank Holiday Monday, heady days.
