GLOUCESTER’S James Hook has finally been drafted back into the Rugby World Cup after Wales suffered further injury problems against England last Saturday.
Hook was left out of the original 31-man squad and turned out for Gloucester in the West Country Challenge matches this month against Exeter and Bath.
But after the latest spate of injuries in the backs, national coach Warren Gatland had little choice but to give Gloucester director of rugby David Humphreys a call and say he would like to take his player.
Hook, despite winning 78 caps, has made one Test appearance since last November, while New Zealand-born fly-half Gareth Anscombe, whose mother is from Cardiff and who has also been called up by Gatland, has recently recovered from an ankle injury.
