Thatcham Town 0
Brimscombe & Thrupp 2
BRIMSCOMBE moved into the FA Vase third qualifying round with a victory at fellow Hellenic Premier Division outfit Thatcham Town.
Brimscombe started brightly with Simon Clarke going close on two occasions.
The turning point arrived three minutes into the second half. Ben Deakin's free-kick fell to Kyle Pitts who saw his shot handled on the line by Thatcham defender Gareth Thomas.
And with Thomas red-carded it was left to Ollie Pitt to score from the spot.
Brimscombe made it two with a great bit of interplay, which saw Pitt find Clarke, who stepped inside his man and struck a left-foot shot, which crept just inside Chris Rackley’s goal.
Goalkeeper Steve Sparrow was called into action just before the game closed with an excellent one-handed save.
Brimscombe travel to North Leigh United on Tuesday in the Perpetua Press Floodlit Cup.
