TWO more FA Cup wins and it could be an away trip to Manchester United.

Watching television from noon on Saturday was a delight.

True football people spoke about the club they cherished, and total respect was shown to the competition we all love and value as the team came out on top at Margate.

With six senior players crocked, and two needing a fitness test on matchday, there were few selection options.

The way the team was set up would be crucial. Players needed to play where they were comfortable.

The manager chose a fluid 4-5-1 formation, with Carter Sinclair and Wedgbury anchoring the middle of the park. This gave Rovers control.

The match was never thrilling, but it was one Rovers were never going to lose.

Victory was vital and victory was obtained. A job well done.

Some may have wanted a blood-and-thunder tie, but we lose those, remember?

Bishops Stortford and Gainsborough Trinity showed us all too recently that a disciplined approach is necessary, and we certainly got that with the exception of one defensive aberration.

Of course there were faults. Our use of corners and free-kicks were poor, and work needs to be done to improve such fortunes.

The bottom line is we have moved on from the Tranmere nightmare towards dreams of FA Cup glory.

Fans were anxious to see youngsters like Baldwin and Stokes given a runout. That was never going to happen with just a one-goal difference between the sides.

Saturday was a day when the result was paramount. Just ask Dave Hockaday or Gary Johnson.

Now to Chester and the question of who replaces the unfortunate Kurtis.

If there is no loan signing, Charlie Clough could be moved forward.

He has a good physical presence and is strong in the air.

Keanu and Elliot are undoubtedly skilful, but are not physically forceful. We need Charlie Clough to provide that dimension.

The left-back position is one for debate. My view is simple. This season, Marcus Kelly has not been at his best. Too many attacks or crosses have come in from the left side of our defence.

James Jennings is the more effective and sharper defence, and if both are fully fit, he would be my current choice.

Whoever is selected their task is difficult because the ever-willing Elliot Frear  is not the best defender in the world in my view.

One area that needs improving is the crowd. The Guiseley taunt that the New Lawn is like a library was cutting and cruelly accurate.

Mrs Light has noisier congregations on Sundays.

Get behind the team, let the ref know we are there.

It does give the players a boost.

I visited the training ground on Thursday and I saw a determined, united group of young men anxious to bring success to the club.

Ady presents himself as a cheerful father figure. It was an uplifting experience.
