GOOD LUCK to Danny Kent in his bid to become one of two new world champions crowned at the 18th and final round of a truly extraordinary MotoGP™ season – the Motul Grand Prix of Valencia on Sunday.

Tetbury's Kent, who moves up to Moto2 next season, has the opportunity of a lifetime to clinch the Moto3 title and become the first British world champion since Barry Sheene in 1978.

Later on Sunday, the Yamaha pair, Valentino Rossi and Jorge Lorenzo, fight it out for the MotoGP championship around the Ricardo Tormo circuit.

So there are 24 laps between Kent and his title and for the fourth race in succession he tries to get over the line and re-write the history books.

Having built up an apparently unassailable lead in the series with six early victories, Danny has seen his lead eroded to just 24 points – with 25 points available to Sunday's race winner.

MOTO3 SCENARIOS

• Danny Kent will become world champion if he finishes in the top 14.

• Miguel Oliveira will become world champion by winning the race with Kent failing to finish in the top 14.

Although the momentum is with Kent's fast-charging principal rival Miguel Oliveira, the Tetbury lad must still be hot favourite to land the spoils – although the finger nails of his team, family and fans may be chewed to the quick.

He was just a split second from clinching the title on his Leopard Racing Honda in Malaysia on October 25 and now he must guard against rough house tactics that could see him failing to finish, as he has done in two recent races, leaving he door open for an Oliveira victory.
