Brackley Town Saints 7

Brimscombe & Thrupp 2

BRIMSCOMBE'S 15-game unbeaten run was ended in emphatic fashion in a wretched Hellenic Premier Division display at Brackley.

Brimscombe took the lead twice but Brackley turned the screw to his six goals after the break.

Earlier, manager Sam Prior’s preparations for this game were hampered with the news that four first team regulars would be missing for this game, three making themselves unavailable to play and one, Tom Black out with glandular fever.

However, the Lillywhites broke the deadlock in the 16th minute, Ben Snook’s free-kick hit the right hand post and Kyle Pitts hit the rebound off the goalkeeper.

Brackley’s equaliser came in the 20th minute; a free-kick just outside the box bounced off keeper Nathan Fag and into the path of Matt Hammond who rifled home.

There were no signs of what was to come as Brimscombe took the lead in the 47th minute through Simon Clarke.

The string of mistakes started in the 66th minute; an excellent build up by the Saints should have been snuffed out but Tom Pass tried to let the ball run out for a goal kick but had it taken off him, the ball was recycled and Josh Bowden finished into the bottom left hand corner to make it 2-2.

Immediately after; Brimscombe’s Snook got caught in midfield and Dan Wilkin finished to make it 3-2.

The Brackley goal tide continued. Johny Davies made an uncharacteristic mistake and a stunning strike made it 4-2.

Brimscombe’s capitulation was well and truly underway. Bowden headed in his second from a corner.

Brimscombe’s troubles got worse when defender Pass was shown a straight red.

If going down to 10 men wasn’t bad enough Brackley were in no mood to let up and they punished their visitors immediately, Dan Wilkin finished smartly into the top corner to make it 6-2. Bowden completed his hat-trick to make it a super seven for Brackley.
