GLOUCESTERSHIRE have completed the signing of former Leicestershire and Sussex seam bowler Chris Liddle on a two-year contract.

Released by Sussex at the end of last season, the 31-year-old Yorkshireman is already seen as a key addition to the Royal London One-Day Cup winners, especially given the loss of James Fuller.

The 6ft 4in left armer was recommended to Gloucestershire by former captain and seam bowling spearhead Jon Lewis, a member of the coaching staff at Sussex.

A reliable performer, Middlesbrough-born Liddle spent nine years on the staff at Sussex and played for Dhaka Gladiators in the Bangladesh Premier League in 2013.

He has taken 24 first-class wickets at an average of 50.91, 69 one-day scalps at 25.47 and 68 T20 wickets at 19.16.

Share article Head coach Richard Dawson said: “It’s great to have Chris on board. He’s got a lot of experience in one-day and T20 cricket, having performed strongly for Sussex and he will add excellent competition to our bowling unit.

"It’s a great opportunity for him to come here and compete in all formats of the game as he has a lot of potential in Championship cricket."
