FOREST Green boss Ady Pennock has landed Stevenage striker Brett Williams on a loan deal that will run until the start of January.

The former Reading and Aldershot  striker is set to bolster the attacking options at The New Lawn, and could make his first appearance in the club’s home Gloucestershire Senior Cup tie against Bristol City this evening, 7pm.

Pennock said: "I've been an admirer of Brett for sometime and he scored against us last season for Aldershot.

"I've kept an eye on and him and I'm delighted to bring him to the club, and he will also be available for the FA Cup tie at Oxford United next week.

"Brett has all the right tools - good in the air, quick and knows this level really well.

"We have a busy December coming and I just thought we needed to add to the squad as we were a little short up top when Jon Parkin and Aaron O'Connor were out injured."

Snapped up by League Two Stevenage at the end of last season following a prolific two-season spell in the fifth tier with Aldershot Town, Williams has featured 17 times for Teddy Sheringham's side with his last goal coming in a 1-1 draw at Portsmouth in front of 15,000 spectators last month.

He hit the back of the net 15 times in the league for Aldershot last season, while the previous 2013-14 campaign saw him notch 24 times.

The 27-year-old started his career in non-league circles at Eastleigh, and after successful goal scoring stints for the Spitfires, as well as AFC Totton and Winchester City, he joined Reading in a five figure move in January 2011.

He’s since spent time on loan in the Football League at Rotherham United and Northampton, as well as time again in the fifth tier at Woking.
