FOREST Green are to lodge an appeal with the Football Association in the hope that Dale Bennett’s sending-off against Altrincham on Saturday will be overturned.

Bennett was shown a straight red card by the referee, Steve Rushton, shortly before half-time following a challenge with Simon Richman, who was booked following the clash.

As things stand the right-back will miss the next three matches.

However, Forest Green boss Ady Pennock reviewed the DVD tonight, Sunday, and will now submit an appeal.

Pennock told the SNJ: “The referee told me at half-time that Dale (Bennett) had stamped on the player, but having watched the DVD it clearly shows that he has done nothing wrong.”

Red cards were also dished out to Altrincham duo Josh O'Keefe and Gianluca Havern in the second period.

Rovers won the game 2-0 and are unbeaten in seven matches in all competitions ahead of next Sunday's FA Cup tie at Oxford United
