A Cirencester school celebrated their annual sports awards evening with rugby legend Terry Fanolua.

The Samoa and Gloucester Rugby centre presented the ceremony at Cirencester Kingshill School on Thursday (November 26), which saw 170 pupils receive awards for their achievements in school sport and as sports leaders within the community.

Oliver Grainger-Williams, year 11 school rugby ambassador, was honoured with the Sports College Plate, the main award of the evening, before getting the chance to interview Mr Fanolua about his career, in front of the 400-strong audience.

Other winners on the night included year 11 pupil Isobel Evans, who received the Leadership Cup, and physical education (PE) teacher Sebastian Thomas who picked up the Sports Coach of the Year shield.

Members of the Kingshill Girls Active Group, Maisie Cooper and Cherrie Coleman, supported by PE teacher Rosie Steel, also presented their involvement in the Girls Active Programme, designed to engage and inspire more girls to take up physical activity.

Cirencester Kingshill School, founded in 1976, is a co-educational comprehensive school for 11 - 16 year olds, becoming an academy in August 2011.

The school currently has approximately 845 pupils on roll.
