SAVE our team is the plea from Avonvale United's U13s squad.

Having started 2016 with a convincing 4-1 victory against Malmesbury Eagles the team is now fighting for its own survival.

Promoted to Division Two of the North Wilts League in 2014, the Avonvale U13s have been gaining in confidence, especially after last season's top-four position.

However, the team may have to withdraw from the league unless it can find new players for the remainder of the season and beyond.

Coach Jack Johnson said: "The boys have been playing with real skill this year, I'm so proud of their ability and enthusiasm.

"They are sitting comfortably in eighth place in the league with 15 games to play. "Unfortunately we have recently lost one of our players and desperately need new blood to bolster our small squad."

New players would be warmly welcomed throughout the club but especially U13s (year eight).

The club has regular socials and a yearly exchange with Dutch Club CSV Jong Holland.

The annual Holland v England match scheduled this year for Easter Weekend is always a highlight of Avonvale's year.

Any boy who joins the club now has the opportunity to take part and play for their country!
