GB star Gwen Kinsey has booked her place at the World Duathlon Championships in Spain.

The Stroud AC athlete rubber-stamped her spot after winning her age-group at the Oulton Park Sprint Duathlon.

Dominating the race from the start of the 4.3km run, Kinsey held-off other competitors in her weaker discipline the 21.6km bike, before stretching away again in the final 4.3km run.

Kinsey is better-known for her exploits in Triathlon, as reigning European Age-group Sprint Champion.

She is now focusing on the European Triathlon Championships in Lisbon in May, and trying to maintain peak form the following week at the World Duathlon Championships.

Kinsey said: “I am delighted to race for GB in another sport and also relieved to qualify at the first opportunity. It will be tough to race on tired legs at the World Duathlon only one week after the European Triathlon but I am really looking forward to the challenge.”

As preparation for these events, she is competing in the Elite category of the Windsor Duathlon and the British Sprint Triathlon Championships.

Kinsey is coached in the run and bike by Chris Frapwell and in the swim by Stroud Masters Swimming Club.

Her bike is prepared by The Bike Works and she would like to thank Gyles Allen, 5 Valleys Physiotherapy and Sports Injury Clinic and TrueStart Performance Coffee for their continued support.
