THE word legend is too often over-used in life but when it comes to John Evans and Gloucestershire sport, there could be no more fitting tribute.

'Evo' will call time on his 40-year sporting career when he hangs up his managerial tracksuit for Shortwood in their final game of the season at home to Winchester City on Saturday.

'Evo' has managed the likes of Forest Green, Brimscombe, Slimbridge and the club closest to his heart, Shortwood United.

His playing career also saw him play for Gloucester City and Forest Green and further spells at Trowbridge Town and Cheltenham Town in the top-tier of Non-League football.

And the former Archway School deputy head even captained Frocester Cricket Club to a Lord's final.

Watch 'Evo'  discuss his long career with sports editor Ashley Loveridge.
