SAM WEDGBURY is set for nine-months on the sidelines after results of a scan have confirmed the Forest Green midfielder suffered an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury in the knee during the home loss against FC Halifax Town on Saturday.
The 27-year-old, who is out of contract in June, was stretchered off shorty before half-time and received gas and air on the pitch.
Manager Ady Pennock said: "I am devastated for Sam. He has been great for us and this is a massive loss. It's a bad blow and very sad.
"I know everyone at the club will wish him well and wish him all the best for his recovery."
Wedgbury has made 42 appearances in all competitions this season, his second at the club, after joining from Stevenage in the summer of 2014.
