Seniors' section

THE Minchinhampton seniors Bogey competition was played on the Cherington course on Monday, May 9 with the winner being vice captain Peter Morse who came in with a terrific score of +9.

The division one winner was John Evans with +4, and he was followed home by Phil Johnson (+3) and Sandy Wood (+2). Derek Norman won the over 70s prize with +2.

In division two it was Peter Morse from Malcolm Fuller who had a very good round of +7. Third was David Gardiner (+2) while David Harley won the over 70s with +2. Gardiner and Harley were the only players to score twos.

Cirencester 4 Minchinhampton New 3

THE next day the seniors were away to Cirencester which proved a close match with Cirencester winning 4-3.

The winning Minch pairs were John Dennis & Peter Morse, Warren Dyke and David Tonks as well as John Gravell & Roger Turley.

The Worcestershire 7 Minchinhampton New 1

TWO days later the seniors were away again this time to The Worcestershire who proved to be the better team on the day, winning the match 7-1. Ron Barker and Ken Gillies were the only winners for Minch.

Bowood 4½ Minchinhampton New 3½

ON Monday, May 16 the seniors were away to Bowood. This is always a tough match and again this year was no exception with Bowood just coming out winners by 4½ to 3½. Three games were halved and the winning Minchinhampton pairs were David Leeson & Chris Sadler and David Tonks & Angus Vockins.

Minchinhampton New 6 Frilford Heath 2

On May 18 the seniors hosted Frilford Heath in a new fixture. The seniors got back their form winning the match 6-2.

Steve Moss & Les Wright won their game as did John Evans & Mike Williams, Angus Vockins & John Fynn, David Leeson & Peter Morse, John Wylde & Bill Bowen and Joe Orchard & Neil Tothill.
