Wrexham have welcomed back Martin Riley to the Racecourse after the player re-joined on a one-year contract, following as season with league rivals Tranmere Rovers.

The centre-back was with Wrexham in 2012/13 and helped the team to FA Trophy success against Grimsby Town, but also suffered the heartbreak of a late defeat to Newport County in the Promotion Final a few weeks later.

Riley started out as a junior with his home-town team Wolverhampton Wanderers, before turning professional and serving another two seasons at the Molineux, although without making his debut.

A switch to Shrewsbury Town followed, but in a short spell at the Meadow the 21-year-old was still unable to break into the first-team, although that came at Kidderminster Harriers in 2008, when he joined them in the Conference.

That was where he first teamed up with Mark Creighton and he played over seventy games in two years with the Harriers, before heading back into the Football League with Cheltenham Town in 2010 and a further 30 appearances.
