WALES U19-international striker Blake Davies has become the latest new arrival at Forest Green Rovers, joining the club on a one-year contract after leaving Bristol Rovers.

The talented attacker, who scored two of the Pirates goals against FGR in the semi-finals of last season’s Gloucestershire Senior Cup, has signed his first professional contract by agreeing to become a part of Mark Cooper’s squad.

Davies moves to The New Lawn with an excellent goal scoring record at youth level, and follows in the footsteps of former teammate Olly Mehew in penning his first deal at Forest Green.

Keen to build on the experiences he’s already enjoyed in football, Davies commented saying: “When I had the phone call off my agent and he told me that Forest Green were interested I was totally thrilled.

“I can’t wait to get started and it’s a new chapter that I am thoroughly looking forward to.

“This is what I’ve trained for over the years and now I’ve signed the deal I’m really looking forward to it.”

Davies gained useful experience last season in a loan spell at Southern Premier Division Frome Town where he helped the Robins to a mid-table finish.

Having also represented the Wales under 17s squad, he recently made the step up to the under 19s age group.

He’ll be hoping to be a part of the Dragons 2017 UEFA European under 19 championships squad when the competition gets underway in November with England, Greece and Luxembourg all set up as opponents.
