Hampshire were forced to call off their second Natwest T20 Blast home game in succession against Gloucestershire at the Ageas Bowl due to a wet outfield - virtually ending their hopes of getting out the South Group.
The players got as far as their fielding positions, after Hampshire had won the toss and elected to bowl against Gloucestershire, following a delayed start.
But another deluge and lightning eventually forced umpires Alex Wharf and Steve Gale to abandon the game – with puddles standing on the outfield.
Hampshire are now rooted to the bottom of the division with just a single win in nine matches – with little hope of reaching a seventh successive Finals Day.
Gloucestershire, however, are in a strong position to qualify for the quarter-finals, and are currently third and just two points off the summit.
