Bristol Rovers Academy 1

Forest Green Academy 2

FRESH from an impressive performance at Everton, Scott Bartlett’s Forest Green Academy defeated Bristol Rovers at The Royal Agricultural University.

Bartlett was assisted by Wade Elliott and was delighted with his side’s application.

Bartlett said: “We were delighted with the boys it was a fantastic performance particularly when you consider that our squad has been stretched this week with a number of academy boys representing the first team and development squad in a busy week.

“I was delighted with the performance because a number of under-16s stepped up and did very well."

And Bartlett is hoping Elliott, a former Burnley, Bournemouth and Bristol City midfielder could become a part of his youth set-up.

Bartlett said: “Wade is a good friend of mine and has obviously done brilliant in the first team games and someone of his playing experience and his attention to detail in coaching would be a massive help for me and the academy – and this is something the chairman gaffer, myself and Scott Lindsey are looking at closely."

The Academy netted parity when Tom Anderson teed-up striker Sam Snaith, and the 16-year-old former Cardiff hit-man rounded the keeper for a neat finish.

And they made it two after Cayman Islands U18s international Kray Foster broke free and a Bristol Rovers defender turned the ball past his own keeper with Reece Sarson and Jordan Stevens ready to tap in at the far post.
