Manager Mark Cooper must have been a punk rocker in his day, rolling back the years with some impressive pogo dancing.

Joy was unconfined in the Rovers dugout when Dale Bennett's injury time goal crept over the line.

Playing at a high tempo, Rovers dominated possession, and with Gateshead showing surprisingly little ambition, should have won by a higher margin.

Lack of goals was a disappointment with Rovers needing to be sharper in the penalty area, but there play outside it was so much better.

More movement off the ball gave players more options on it and we saw speedy attractive approach play. Keanu Marsh- Brown was always dangerous and his energy and commitment did him credit.

Drissa Traore, playing just in front of the defence broke up many Gateshead attacks and at the same time sought the ball out of defence and fed our forwards with quick incisive passes. He was a deserved man-of-the-match, but was pushed closely by Ethan Pinnock. In the absence of Charlie Clough, Ethan played a more central defensive role and was outstanding. Reading the game well he was good in the air and on the ground. He looked a fine acquisition and I am sure will grow with the club.

Bennett showed without doubt what his best position is - right -back. In addition to being a fine defender, his spirited attacks bring an extra dimension to Rovers play when going forward.

Our strike force has yet to shine. All of us who played football in the school playground know the meaning of the term "goal hanger" and that is exactly what Matt Tubbs is. His eye for a goal opportunity is undeniable.

Now for Woking - Gary Hill's team has not started well, but Kingfield is not a happy hunting ground for FGR. Whatever happens we can't expect a hard game with a mobile fluid Woking side causing us real problems. Saturday sees the visit of York. I find the prospect of a fine Cathedral City playing at a small Cotswold town an exciting prospect.

Many of us will enjoy the return of Klukowski and Kamdjo. They will find one major difference we now have a crowd! Outstanding throughout the game on Saturday - support for our team never ceased.

The East stand was particularly lively. Manager Mark paid them a proper and genuine tribute. He was absolutely right. Have we at last found our twelfth man?
