An impressive 11 Hartpury students have been selected to represent their region at the UK School Games Rugby Sevens tournament.

The women's only tournament will see eight teams representing all four home nations battling it out over the first weekend in September at Loughborough University.

Four of the girls picked are set to join Hartpury this September. Tabitha Copson has been selected for the England Midlands squad while the trio of Abi Burton, Ellie Kildunne and Eloise Hayward will all be representing England North. Kildunne, who features in the North Under-18s 15-a-side team, is also tipped to be a potential England European Sevens squad member.

The other seven, already Hartpury College classmates, will represent the England South East and South West squads. Ella Wywras and Rosanna Moynihan will be representing the South East, while Ellie Gilbert, Hollie Cunningham, Maisie Gudmunsen, Milly Wallis and Taz Bricknell will all be playing for the South West.

LJ Lewis, who heads up the Under-18s women's rugby programme at Hartpury, said: "It's fantastic to see so many of our current players have their talent and commitment to their sport being recognised as they are selected to play in such a prestigious tournament.

"It's also really exciting to see several of our future prospects selected. It is a testament to the reputation and success of our rugby programmes and reflects the quality of our squads. It makes everyone involved at Hartpury really proud to know we are playing a key role in the development of hugely talented young players and we are looking forward to the start of the season!"
