FOREST GREEN boss Mark Cooper has labelled the sacking of Eastleigh boss Mark Todd as 'ridiculous'.

The former Forest Green captain was axed after the 4-2 National League defeat at home to Dover Athletic on Tuesday.

With the National League campaign less than a fortnight old, Eastleigh are already eight points adrift of embryonic leaders Tranmere Rovers.

Cooper said: It’s ridiculous, four games? They actually signed a player on the day before the game – a good signing from Northampton and then they sack Chris Todd after four games.

“Why recruit the man if you’re going to sack him after four games? All that tells me is they have got someone lined up and you can’t judge a man really on four games.”

A raft of names are already being linked with the job, including Martin Allen, Nigel Adkins, Micky Adams, Gary Waddock, John Askey and Steve Burr were also believed to be in the mix.
