FA Cup Prelim Rd
Highmoor Ibis.....1
Brimscombe.......2
BRIMSCOMBE created their own bit of FA Cup history by reaching the first qualifying round after a last-minute Jordan Yeo preliminary- round winner at Highmoor Ibis.
The match looked set for a replay, but Yeo left it late to set up a home tie against Peacehaven and Telscombe on September 3 in the first qualifying round.
Yeo produced a sumptuous volley to beat Nathan Silver into the far corner of the net.
Earlier, keeper Steve Sparrow had to be on his mettle as the home side started brightly in the windy conditions.
However, Brimscombe took the lead in the 26th-minute. Ollie Pitt was fouled near the corner flag and Kyle Pitts found the corner of the net with a great header from Pitt’s free-kick.
Highmoor netted parity when Jamie Porter was allowed space to fire home with five minutes of the half to go.
The Lilywhites played some eye-catching football after the break, with Ben Snook and Ashley Caldwell taking control in midfield.
Silver made several crucial saves and the game was equally poised, at the other end Sparrow denied White when he looked sure to score.
With manager Sam Prior at a family wedding, Mat Blythe and Jamie Underwood stood in and used the subs bench with Ben Prictor,Tom Black and Jack Smith all coming on in the later stages.
And just as a replay loomed, up popped Yeo to bag a last-gasp winner.
