Player ratings: FGR v Southport

By FGR fan Chris Gardner

A bit curates egg today. After the first 15 minutes, a cricket score was in prospect but we took the foot off the gas and let Southport back in.

Stung by a goal, Driss was subbed after his brilliance had faded, Liam Noble takes charge in front of the back-four and we get going again to wonderful effect.

Not quite as compelling as Maidstone though, despite the five-goals.

Sam Russell - 8 - distribution excellent and made three superb saves. On peak form.

Charlie Clough - 8 - forgotten how good he is, as Pinnock had slotted in so well. Important third goal.

Driss Traore - 7 - outstanding first 25 minutes but faded. As usual, was the first to be subbed.

Dale Bennett - 8 - consistently at the top of his game.

Elliott Frear - 8 - not as effective when he drifts off the wing, but when he stays wide, no right-back can cope with him.

Kieffer Moore - 9 - at last, the goals to match his performances. At times today, unplayable. MoM beyond any doubt.

Liam Noble - 9 - clearly now, Liam is so important to the team - the manager on the pitch. Terrific game.

Ethan Pinnock - 9 -  young, but so mature. This lad can scale the heights.

Aarran Racine - 7- sound as ever, but lost his marker for Southport's goal?

Matt Tubbs - 6 - quiet today, did not really join the party, but worked hard.

Mo Chemlal - 7 - at times scintillating, but I felt he was brushed aside when under pressure.

Sub Darren Carter - 8 - did well with Liam Noble behind him and his height and aggressiveness helped turn the tide back in our favour after Southport's goal.

Sub Fabien Robert - 6 - some nice touches, but still feel I am waiting to see the real Fabien as he builds his fitnes.

Sub Rhys Murphy - 8 - confidence boosted by goals, boy does he look the part.
