FOREST GREEN owner Dale Vince has rejected claims he agreed a deal with Cheltenham Town chairman Paul Baker to let Elliott Frear leave the New Lawn.

However, Baker insisted a deal had been reached for Frear, but the League Two strugglers had reviewed their options and decided to look elsewhere.

He told Gloucestershire Live:"There is no love lost between the two clubs. We met the valuation that Forest Green put on the player but decided not to pursue it for other reasons, end of."

But Vince insisted: "This whole story is nonsense, CTFC need to move on, they were never negotiating with us for Elliot, they may have had fantasies about it, but realised they couldn't afford him - and went for loan players instead - who knows. We have no idea what it's all about."

Frear, who clocked up his 100th league appearance for Rovers on Tuesday, played a pivotal role in Forest Green's 1-0 win over Bromley on Saturday - laying on the assist for Keanu Marah-Brown's second half strike.
