HONEST Forest Green captain Liam Noble says he let his team-mates down as Rovers crashed out of the FA Cup.

Noble gave Rovers a first half lead with a sumptuous strike at Sutton United, but the straight-talking midfield maestro held his hands up as United hit back through former Forest Green winger Ross Stearn and a 90th-minute winner from Roarie Deacon.

Noble admitted: “The first goal is probably down to me, not setting up the wall quick enough and the second one, I think he has run off me , so I think I will have to take the blame and the gaffer has pointed it out and I have let the lads down.

“The gaffer is boiling and he has a good right to be, but we know ourselves that we were not good enough, but we go again Saturday.”

Rovers’ boss Mark Cooper called his players in for Sunday training and Noble was in agreement with his decision.

He added: “The gaffer has every right to bring us in, but we will assess it and go again for Guiseley at home on Saturday.”
