THE 35th Stroud Half Marathon will see 1,650 runners take part on Sunday, 10am.

Hosted as a partnership between Stroud AC and Total Buzz Events, with a start and finish on Cainscross Road, the route follows the well established loop taking in Stonehouse, Standish and Whitminster, before returning to Stroud along the A419.

The race is sponsored by Thompson First Citroen, Anytime Fitness and Griffiths Marshall. Charity partners for the race are Allsorts Gloucestershire.

The race has sold out on-line, with only reserve places still available.

Race director Steve Elliott said: “The race organisers and athletes would like to thank you in advance for your patience with this.

“There are many locations along the route which make for great spectating. The start/finish on Cainscross Road is always exciting, as is the Marling School Field, where athletes will be be gathering post-race to collect their commemorative medals and t-shirts. There will be a presentation to the top three male/female athletes in the school field.

“Ebley Road/Westward Road are also a great place to watch, as this is an out and back section of the route.

“Without the help of many local volunteers, the race could not happen, the organisers would like to thank members of Stroud AC, The Door Youth Project, Army Cadets, Air Cadets and all other volunteer marshals for their support.

“Volunteer roles are still available, so if you would like to get involved please visit the race web-site for contact details. www.stroudhalf.com.”
