MARK COOPER has delivered his promise to make changes to the Forest Green squad by sending out Aarran Racine and Rhys Murphy to National League strugglers York City.

The Forest Green boss threatened changes to the squad after seeing his side pick up just one point from a possible last nine and with Rovers knocked off top spot by Lincoln City on Tuesday night, he told the SNJ that outs were planned.

He said: "We had a week, where we should have got nine points, but we got one and I know the reasons for that and I know what needs to be done.

"We have signed two and maybe another one will come in before the Truro game, but there will be two or three going out to make the squad managble."

Club captain Racine, Rovers' longest-serving player, and Murphy failed to make the squad at the weekend and will spent a month at Gary Mills' side and are set to make their debuts against Tranmere Rovers on Saturday.

Commenting on the double swoop, City chief Mills told the York Post: “They will both bring quality and experience into the team. Rhys is a goalscorer, who got goals in League One last season and Aarran knows this league.

“They are players who know what it takes to play in this division. They are coming in on loan initially, so that’s the starting point, but just getting them through the door is fantastic for me."

The deal  runs until the start of the New Year, but could turn into a permanent switch.

Central defender Racine has made 14 appearances in all competitions for Forest Green this season.

Murphy has made 18 appearances since joining the club from Oldham Athletic in July – finding the back of the net on seven occasions.

The duo will team-up with former Forest Green players Yan Klukowski and Jon Parkin, who joined the Minstermen from Newport County this week.
