STRIKER Christian Doidge insists he has every intention of celebrating with the Forest Green faithful when he scores his next goal.

Top scorer Doidge bagged a brace in Rovers’ 5-1 thumping of Bromley on Saturday and duly celebrated his second in stoppage-time with the traveling fans behind the goal.

However, the match referee followed the letter of the law and yellow carded the 13- goal Forest Green marksman.

Doidge said: “Obviously we haven’t had good results recently, but I wanted to show the fans we really do care and hopefully that did - I even got a booking for it, but I didn’t even realise you get a yellow card for that, but I would still do it again.”

Full of confidence, Doidge praised captain Liam Noble for his assist for Rovers’ fifth.

He said: “I have been on to Noble all week about setting me up - and that last one - he knocked a wicked pass into me - and I finished it nicely. “ I’m delighted with my form, I feel like I am going to score every game as I am getting the chances and as a striker that is what you want.”

Rovers have hit 13 goals in the last three games, but have leaked 10 in the same sequence, but Doidge praised a defence which snuffed out the attacking intent of an in-form Bromley side who had won their previous four home games.

He added: “The boys at the back did really well. We looked really solid and Ethan (Pinnock) did a really good job shielding the back-four in a new position and showed the quality he has got.”

On an unforgiving pitch, Doidge felt his side coped admirably and showed a hard exterior to their game.

“The pitch wasn’t great and it looked like they must have been training on it for four weeks and driving their cars on it as well,” he said.

“People think Forest Green are soft, but we have shown on numerous occasions that we can fight Truro away that was a difficult game and a similar pitch as today, but really heavy pitches don’t really bother us and we have got the squad to win the game.”

And Doidge’s confidence is sky high going into the trip to Eastleigh on Tuesday, knowing a victory will send them back to the top of the table.

“Eastleigh is another big game and they have a really good team, but are not doing that well at the moment, but teams raise their game when they play us, so we have to be ready for it and I’m sure we will.”
