WESTON boss Scott Bartlett has thanked his Shortwood counterpart Alex Sykes for his part in Jake Lee’s move to the Seagulls.
Hot-shot Lee penned a deal at Woodspring Park last night ahead of his first training session with the National League South outfit.
"Alex Sykes and I go back a long way and I’m grateful to him for getting the deal done,"said Bartlett. “Jake is a clever signing for us and will fit into our group very well. He is a goalscorer and they are not easy to come by. He also works incredibly hard and has good values. We are a young hungry group and he has done really well for Shortwood over the last few years and has been a fantastic servant to them."
A spotter of untapped talent, Bartlett scouted Bristol Rovers striker Matt Taylor for Forest Green when he was plying his trade at Southern League North Leigh.
He added: “At the age of 25 we have given him the opportunity to play in the National League. My staff and players are desperate to better themselves and I think Jake falls into this category.”
