GLOUCESTER centre Henry Trinder believes Saturday's game against Harlequins is crucial for the home side's aims this season.

Unbeaten since New Year's Day on home soil, the Cherry and Whites have improved in every game at Kingsholm, with league leaders Wasps and Saracens both defeated in GL1, and with a tricky game against Quins approaching, Trinder wants to see the stands packed and noisy.

"It's the atmosphere that the crowd creates,” the former Cirencester RFC player Trinder told the Gloucester RFC website.

“You can often tell when you arrive at the stadium what sort of game it is going to be ¬ and it often starts in the warm-up.

"It does set something alight, especially if they are loud from the start. It happened in the game against Saracens, it set the tempo and the physicality from the first whistle. It's that 16th man and we thrive off that.

"We want to win for ourselves and win for the fans, and there is that pressure and we have to embrace that and recycle it for something positive.

"The Saracens game was a special night, and everyone came together and celebrated a good win together.

"After 10 years at the club, I know that the fans expect the simple things. They want a passionate performance, and see 100 per cent from all of the players.

"We know that when we do perform at the top level, we can expect the support from the fans."

Kingsholm is set to host a double header too this weekend, as the Gloucester-Hartpury Women host Worcester Ladies IIs following the conclusion of the Aviva Premiership clash with Harlequins.

The Gloucester-Hartpury Women were accepted into the RFU Women's Super Rugby Competition for 2017/18, so this is a great chance to cheer on the team in crucial top-of-the-table clash.
