TABLE TENNIS
Stroud & District Division One: Woodchester B secured third place in the division after a 6-4 victory at Forest Green A.
Clive Ellison finished as man-of-the-match for Woodchester with a maximum.
Dave Hadley kept his team together as he scored a max for Phoenix A, but couldn’t prevent them losing 4-6 at home to Yate.
Phoenix B scored an 8-2 victory at home to Frampton B giving them a safety cushion at the lower end of the table. Liwu Wei scored a hat-trick for the home side.
Division 2: Whiteshill B secured their mid-table position when their weakened team came away from Cam A with a 5-5 draw, Chris Kowalczuk, who was playing up, was man-of-the-match for the visitors, scoring a maximum.
Division 3:With the title race going into the last week of the season Phoenix F have put themselves in a strong position after beating their D team club-mates 10-0. Sam McIvor, Jon Ramsbotham and Alex Wei proved to be too strong for the visitors.
Earlier in the week, Woodchester C had won by a similar result when they entertained Phoenix E, Barry Morgan, Carol Philp and John Bunn were the players who had taken their team to the summit of the table.
Woodchester D also had a convincing win when they beat Cam B 9-1 with maximums from Colin Bruton and Mike Hanks.
Division 4: Things are hotting up at the top of the division after Randwick E left Forest Green C with an 8-2 victory, Theo Laffort was man-of-the-match for Randwick, scoring a max.
George Thomas, with a hat-trick, and his Cam C team were too strong for the visiting Phoenix H, winning the match 7-3.
Thornbury D lost 4-6 at home to Forest Green D, Richard Wright was man-of-the-match as he scored a max for the Green.
