FOREST GREEN boss Mark Cooper insists the National League title is Lincoln’s to lose.

The New Lawn outfit are on top of the table after a dramatic  stoppage-time victory over Solihull Moors on Tuesday night and now go toe-to-toe with long-time leaders and FA Cup quarter-finalists Lincoln City on Saturday lunchtime.

And as Rovers were celebrating an extraordinary last-gasp win, Lincoln went down to a shock 2-0 Tuesday night defeat at Boreham Wood.

But, with Lincoln holding three games in hand on Rovers, only a win will suffice for boss Cooper, who is cranking up the heat on the Red Imps ahead of their title showdown.

He said: “We want to go there and try and win. We want to make it a really tight run-in because it is Lincoln’s to lose.”

Christian Doidge's late winner sparked emmotional scenes, which will live long in the memory for the New Lawn faithful.

And Cooper tried to block out any news of Lincoln's result as nerves in Nailsworth jangled.

Cooper added: “I wasn’t aware that Lincoln were losing 2-0 until the third minute of injury time. I knew we needed to win but it was nice to see they had lost.

“All this has done is give us more of a chance. The pressure is on Lincoln. We have to go there, they have had a brilliant season and they know if they win every game, they win the league. So we are going to go there and give a good account of ourselves."

More than 8,000 fans are expected to pack Sincil Bank, but Cooper is confident his side will remain clam.

He said: “It is important that we stay calm at Lincoln on Saturday. We cannot get hyped up with the occasion. We have to play the game.

“There are three points at stake and we have to give ourselves the best opportunity to get those points."
