FOLLOWING a run of six consecutive defeats, Shortwood United have parted company with boss Alex Sykes.
Club spokesman Jim Cunneen said: "Following recent discussions between club president Richard Webb, Shortwood United committee and Alex Sykes the club have to announce that Alex has left the position of first team manager of the club. Alex and the club's aspirations for the future do not correlate.
"Shortwood would like to thank Alex for his service to the club and wish him well in his future career."
The Southern League West Division outfit have placed former reserve team boss Paul Meredith in temporary charge for the final three games of the season and the club are keen to retain the current backroom staff of player/assistant manager Will Morford and coach Andy Hoskins.
Shortwood are at home to Swindon Supermarine on Saturday before a trip to Slimbridge on Easter Monday. They finish the season at home to Barnstable on April 22nd
