GLOUCESTERSHIRE quickly recovered from a humiliating against Kent in their opening county championship match to inflict a similar drubbing on Leicester – to the delight of head coach Richard Dawson.

He said: "We wanted to bounce back after last week's defeat against Kent and we have done that.

"The performance was exactly what we asked for and what the players wanted.

"The really pleasing aspect is that we had a handful of players who have made match-winning contributions in the game, with bat and ball. We scored a lot of runs with the bat and we had a number of bowlers who took wickets.

"I thought we bowled really well today again – that's Liam (Norwell) and the other lads too. When you take early wickets as we did in their second innings, you put yourself in a very good position.

"I felt it was a seriously good championbship wicket and to have played that well on it, is very pleasing indeed."
