Hartpury golfer Meg Rossouw has been crowned the Association of Colleges (AoC) national champion as her girls team also scooped the team title.

17-year-old Rossouw, who studies A Levels at the college, won the individual girl’s event ahead of fellow Hartpury student Adrian Mylrea at Morley Hayes Golf Club in Derbyshire.

Rossouw shot 79 in her first round before a 75 on her second 18 left her and Mylrea tied on 154 shot totals – with Mylrea having shot the exact opposite of Rossouw, with scores of 75 then 79 in her two rounds. Rossouw pipped her fellow student to the title on countback with a better score in her second round.

Despite Mylrea missing out on the individual title both her and Rossouw’s scores counted towards helping Hartpury also win the AoC national team title, with fellow Hartpury student Alex Giles contributing the third score to secure them top spot.

Matthew Ellis, Hartpury’s golf academy manager, said: “This was a great result for all three of the girls; although Adrian was unfortunate to miss out based on her second round score it was good to see another Hartpury student in Meg go on to win it. All three contributed with good overall scores in tough conditions to secure us the team title as well, so it was a promising weekend overall.”
