GLOUCESTERSHIRE golfer Jack Cope will feature in a mixed international tournament next weekend.

The Fairhaven Trophy on May 5-7 boasts Europe’s most talented young players. As part of the 12-strong England golf team, Cope will feature in a ‘Team Two’, a three-person squad alongside Amelia Williamson from Norfolk and Danny Daniels from Hertfordshire at the three-day event.

The international U18 championship will be played over 72 holes at Fairhaven Golf Club, Lancashire with a cut after 36 holes. Cope will tee off against Estonia’s Carl Hellat and Switzerland’s Loic Ettlin on Friday and Saturday.

Cope, the sixth-form student from Minchinhampton, was a part of England’s triumphant team at last year’s Canadian International Junior Challenge alongside team-mate Daniels. The 17-year-old is targeting more success after his recent selection in the England Boy’s golf squad.
