Gloucestershire Under 11 Boys v Oxfordshire Under 11 Boys (at Thornbury CC), May 21, 2017 Friendly Oxfordshire 83 all out (28 overs) Gloucestershire 84-1 (25 overs)

Gloucestershire won by nine wickets Gloucestershire U11s made it two wins from two this season with a comprehensive nine wicket victory over Oxfordshire at Thornbury CC.

A fine effort with in the field – which included three run outs - made sure the home side bowled the visitors out for 83 before knocking them off for the loss of just one wicket.

After winning the toss and electing to bowl first Gloucestershire got off to a great start when James Austen (Winterbourne) ran out one of the Oxfordshire openers for six.

Luke Hope (Great Rissingtom) bowled tightly, conceding just seven from his four overs. This set the standard for the rest of the attack who didn’t give anything away all afternoon. Wickets were shared around with Jacob Stevenson (Bristol YMCA), Freddie Collinson (Gloucester City Winget), Lysander Tarrant (Bourton Vale), Beau Griffin (Charlton Kings) and Billy Benson (Dumbleton all picking up a wicket each. Further run outs from Max Dunne (Frocester) and Austen with his second ensured Oxfordshire were all out for 83 in the 28th over.

In reply Gloucestershire got off to a steady start thanks to a solid opening stand of 44 from Austin (24 not out) and Gus Roberts (24) (Aston Inghgam). The pair rotated the strike well before pouncing on anything loose and dispatching it to the boundary.

Roberts was eventually stumped off the bowling of Niyarspola with 40 still needed for victory. This brought Woody Walker (Cirencester) to the crease and he wasted no time in knocking off the rest of the runs hitting 27 off of 27 balls including four boundaries.

The U11s next game is away to Gwent on May 30.

Gloucestershire Under 13 Girls v Wales Under 13 Girls (at Colstons’ School), May 21, 2017 ECB Women’s County League, Division A, Group 4 Gloucestershire 132-9 (35 overs) Wales 111 all out (32.3 overs)

Gloucestershire won by 21 runs Sarah Walsh (Frenchay) topscored with 41 as Gloucestershire Under 13 Girls continued their impressive start to the season with a well-fought 21 run win over Wales.

The home side had to battle back from 5-3 after losing the toss and being put in to bat.

Glos got back into the game with a 39 run partnership between Issy Patel (Frenchay) and Annabella Phipps (Dumbleton) who both made 18 before a further collapse saw the hosts fall to 59-7 before the 18 over drinks break.

This bought Walsh and Katie Jones (22) (Dumbleton) to the crease and together they put on a match winning partnership of 55 that enabled their side to post 132 from their 35 overs.

In reply Wales last their first wicket to the first ball of the innings as Lottie Gilderson (1-3 from 5 overs) (Dumbleton) struck thanks to a good catch by Freya Clark (Tewkesbury) at square leg.

The visitors lost two more early wickets to slip to 23-3 but recovered to 65-3 at the halfway point in the innings Immediately after the break Patel (1-11) bowled Ails Phillips (15) and suddenly the hosts were in the driving seat as Wales faltered to 80-9.

Wickets were shared around with Clark, Walsh, Phipps taking on each. Captain Bea Ellis (3-11) (Charlton Kings) then struck the decisive blow as Wales were bowled out for 111.

South Gloucestershire Under 12 Boys v Cheltenham and Cotswold Under 12 Boys (at Chalford CC), May 21, 2017 South Gloucestershire 106-9 (30 overs) Cheltenham and Cotswolds 107-8 (23.2 overs)

Cheltenham and Cotswolds won by six wickets Cheltenham and Cotswold (C&C) Under 12s scraped home to a two wicket win over Stroud and South Gloucestershire (SSG) U12s after chasing down their target of 107 in the 23rd over.

A composed 30 not out from Charlie Brook (Cirencester) helped his side recover from 77-7 to get over the line in the face of some great SSG bowling.

Earlier SSG batted first and never really recovered from the early blow of being reduced to 7-2 thanks to two wickets for Brook (2-9).

Tom King (15) (Carsons & Magotsfield) fought hard but SSG looked dead and buried at 62-9 as Harry Dawson (2-11) (Cheltenham) and two run outs contributed to the home sides woes.

But a tenth wicket partnership of 43 between Jacob Moore (17) (Painswick) and Harry Ahearne (Cirencester) (20) meant SSG battled back to post a defendable 105-9.

In reply C&C lost an early wicket but recovered through Harry Brownless (22) (Cirencester) and Alfie Griffin (14) (Charlton Kings).

But from 40-3, C&C collapsed to 77-7 with Caden Harris (2-19) (Winterbourne) the pick of the bowlers . However despite excellent bowling from the home attack Brooks held his nerve to lead his side to victory in the 24th over.

SSG U12s have now won one and lost one while Cheltenham and Cotswold U12s have won both their games so far. The next round of fictures takes place on bank holiday Monday with SSG taking on Gloucester and the Forest of Dean and C&C playing Bristol.

Bristol Under 11 Boys v Stroud and South Gloucestershire Under 11 Boys (at Frenchay), May 21, 2017 Bristol 122-8 (30 overs) Cheltenham and Cotswolds 123-4 (26 overs)

Cheltenham and Cotswolds won by six wickets Cheltenham and Cotswolds Under 11s beat Bristol by six wickets after chasing down their target of 123 with four overs to spare.

Significant contributions from Charlie Watkins (37) (Charlton Kings), William Merrett (33 not out) (Lechlade) and Daniel Hammond (20 not out) saw the visitors recover from 37-3 after Charlie Wernham (2-20) (Bishopston) had made early breakthroughs.

Earlier, having lost the toss and been put in to bat, Bristol made 122-8 thanks to a fine half century from Laurie Wilson (41) (Bristol YMCA) and Louis Nancekivell (21).

Gloucestershire Women v Cornwall Women (at Falmouth CC) May 14 ECB County Championship Division 3- Group B Gloucestershire 308 - 8 (50 overs) Cornwall 51 all out (23 overs)

Gloucestershire won by 257 runs Gloucestershire recorded their 3rd successive league victory with a comprehensive 257 run over Cornwall at Famouth CC.

Abby Evans made a stunning 139 from 131 balls to help Glos to 308-8 from their 50 overs. Danielle Gibson then did the damage with the ball, taking 5-17 as the hosts were bowled out for just 51.

Earlier, Evans and Naomi Forecast made a watchful start on a slightly damp wicket after captain Eve Alder won the toss and elected to bat. They put on 80 before Forecast was bowled for 31 in the 14th over.

Gibson joined Evans and the scoring rate rose rapidly as both players started to pepper the boundaries. Evans reached 50 in the 18th over and shortly after, hit a six to make her the first Gloucestershire Women’s player to pass 2000 senior runs.

At the other end Gibson was quick to put away the bad ball and she reached her 50 in the 29th over from only 35 balls with eight boundaries. The pair had put on 125 in 17 overs, when Gibson was bowled for 57 in the 31st over.

Alice Hill joined Evans and played a supporting role ensuring that Evans had most of the strike. In the 35th over, Evans reached a high class hundred from 103 balls that contained six fours and two sixes, continuing her outstanding form this season.

When she was finally dismissed in the 43rd over she had scored 139 from 131 balls and Gloucestershire were on 274 and heading for their record total. A flurry of late wickets, including the wicket of Hill for 19, slowed the rate slightly as Gloucestershire finished their 50 overs on 308-8.

In reply the Gloucestershire opening bowlers Gibson and Robbins blew away the Cornwall top order in 12 overs with a display of of superb seam bowling. Gibson running in and bowling quickly, yorked both openers and followed up by bowling two more. Robbins (2-7) beat the bat several times and was rewarded with two wickets, one LBW and the other courtesy of a catch at mid-on by Maria Fowler. At the other end, Gibson completed her five-fer in the sixth over - her first five wicket haul in senior women’s cricket.

Charlie Phillips (1-19) and Lucy Gladdy (2-7) ensured there was no let up for the Cornish batters as they were bowled out for 51 in 23 overs.

Records tumbled and personal achievements were surpassed on the day as Gloucestershire recorded their highest ever 50 over total and their biggest ever winning margin. Abby Evans’ 139 was her highest county score and Danielle Gibson’s 5-17 was her best bowling performance for the county.
