HRH The Duke of Cambridge took part in a thrilling match at the Beaufort Polo Club near Westonbirt on Sunday as part of the Gloucester Festival of Polo.

Prince William lined up for the Maserati team alongside England International star player Malcolm Borwick, as well as Bruce Merivale-Austin and Henry Porter.

The game was in aid of the charities Child Bereavement UK and Fields in Trust, of which the Duke is patron.

The Maserati team lost out narrowly to the opposing Dhamani 1969 team of HH The Maharaja of Jaipur, Karan Thapar, England women's captain Nina Clarkin and Olly Tuthill by 7-6½.

The Maserati Most Valuable Player prize was presented to Henry Porter.

This is the fourth year Maserati and its polo apparel partner, La Martina, have hosted a global polo tour, with the UK match being the third of five matches on the calendar. The 2017 season spans nine months, covering two continents.
