Gloucestershire have re-signed Josh Shaw on loan.

The 21-year-old right-arm seamer, who came through the Academy system at Headingley, will be a familiar sight to many Gloucestershire supporters who saw him perform at The Brightside Ground, Bristol and at The Cheltenham Cricket Festival last year.

Shaw, whose father Chris played 61 First-class matches for Yorkshire in the 1980s, will be looking to cement his place in Richard Dawson’s senior team.

Josh, who expressed his delight after resigning for Gloucestershire, said: 'I'm delighted that Yorkshire and ‘Daws’ have got their heads together to give me the opportunity of playing First-class cricket across all formats once again.

“I thoroughly enjoyed my loan period last season and I'm looking forward to working hard to get into contention for selection and improving on last year’s stats.”

Shaw’s best bowling figures for Gloucestershire came against Sussex last year in the Specsavers County Championship match at the Brightside Ground, Bristol with figures of 5/79 off 24 overs on 20 September.

Gloucestershire Head Coach, Richard Dawson said: “It’s good to have Josh re-joining us after a successful loan spell last season. He will add to our bowling group coming into a very busy period of the season.”

Chief Executive Will Brown added: "It’s great news that Josh Shaw will be returning to Gloucestershire. He made some major contributions to the squad last year and we look forward to him kicking on more throughout this year."
