THE EFL have issued an apology after a catalogue of errors during Carabao Cup first round draw.

Scheduled to take place via a live Facebook stream, the feed had no sound, stalled on other people's computers and an error with the graphics caused confusion.

AFC Wimbledon were shown to be playing Swindon Town - a draw not actually possible because both sides are unseeded.

In fact, Swindon Town are heading for Carrow Road in the week beginning August 7 to play Championship side Norwich City.

Forest Green were shown to be drawn away to Wolverhampton Wanderers when in fact they will play MK Dons at home.

League One side Charlton Athletic appeared twice on the graphic, firstly playing Exeter City away and then Cheltenham Town at home before being corrected back to Exeter.

Later, the EFL were forced to issue an apology for the fiasco.

“The EFL would like to apologise for a number of third party technical issues that affected coverage of this afternoon’s Carabao Cup Round One draw in Bangkok.

“There were inaccuracies as a result of human error in the live graphics output, which resulted in confusion and incorrect ties being displayed on screen.

“In addition, some users did experience difficulties in accessing the stream on certain external platforms. Both issues are currently under investigation.

“The EFL can confirm that the draw was not compromised in any way and all clubs have received confirmation of their Round One ties.”
