ANOTHER whirlwind century by Ross Martin took Frocester to a 114 run victory over hapless Lechlade on Saturday.

It could have been a double century as he was finally dismissed for 176 in the 41st over. It’s not often that a century by Nick Trainor is overshadowed, but, that’s what happened on this occasion.

Martin took charge after Frocester struggled to 52-3, but then he was joined by Nick Trainor and they featured in an incredible partnership of 193 in 30 overs.

When Martin fell for an amazing 176, which included 29 fours and five sixes, Trainor was then joined by Fin Dixon in another century partnership as Frocester powered on past 350. Trainor was eventually bowled for 103, whilst Dixon was unbeaten on 43 as Frocester reached a massive 385-6 in 50 overs.

In reply, Lechlade collapsed to 43-4 with Martin and Perera taking two wickets each. Brad Dial then showed his class, helping himself to 149 not out as Lechlade were dismissed for 271.

Tom Drake took 3-51 and Dan Whincup 2-53, with the support of Tom Wand who held 4 great catches.

Frocester took 20 points and are now fourth in the table.

On Sunday at Pounds Close, Frocester reached the regional semi-final of the National T20 cup with victories over Cheltenham and Cirencester in a triangular series.

Frocester reached a total of 173-8 with Callum Gegg top scoring with 51. Cheltenham started well, reaching 66-1, but once the second-wicket partnership was broken, they slumped to 139-8, Frocester winning by 34 runs.

Against Cirencester, Ross Martin again provided the fireworks hitting eight fours and three sixes in 63 made from only 34 deliveries.

With Dan Whincup providing a late flurry with 47 not out, Frocester reached a massive 217-5 in 20 overs. Cirencester quickly slumped to 32-5 and were never in the hunt, eventually all out for 82 with Tom Wand taking 5-13. Frocester now travel to Bath on Sunday, July 9.

On Saturday, Frocester 2nd X1 continued their winning run with a nail-biting five run victory over Tewkesbury and remain top of the WEPLGloucestershire division by 19 points.

Frocester batted first and were in trouble at 76-6, but Amit Patel, with 57, and Sam Birch, with 63, lifted the Frocester total to 228 all out.

Dan Cave and Birch took three wickets each, and James Cook held a brilliant slip catch as Frocester worked hard to contain the Tewkesbury batsmen. At 192-9, still requiring 36 for victory, the game appeared won, but Nick Hill struck a valiant 47 not out for the visitors to take them within five runs of victory.

But Bowers nicked a catch to Callum Gegg off the bowling of Dan Cave to snatch victory for Frocester.
