FOREST GREEN are fending off unwanted admirers.

Captain Liam Noble, star striker Christian Doidge and defender Ethan Pinnock are on the wanted list.

And according to The Sun, Rovers are understood to have turned down two bids from Championship outfit Barnsley for Pinnock and are seeking a £1million fee for the Londoner, who joined them last summer from Isthmian League outfit Dulwich.

Rovers are also believed to have turned down an approach from Oxford United for 24-year-old Welshman Doidge, who scored 27 goals last term to help Rovers win promotion to the Football League for the first time, including one in the 3-1 play-off final triumph over Tranmere Rovers at Wembley.

Meanwhile, Noble is being courted by his former club Notts County, who released him on a free. This time they’ve got to pay for him, but Rovers are refusing to budge over a reported £100,000 asking price.

“We have already turned a lot of bids down,” said Forest Green boss Mark Cooper. “We want to keep the nucleus together and add to it if we can.”

Cooper accepts if the price is right, some of the squad may go, adding: “Everyone has their price in football but we don’t want to lose anyone.”

With the league fixtures announced last week, Cooper feels the reality of a new season is starting to sink in.

He added: “The fixtures are interesting. You look at the first block and they appear to be difficult on paper but I am not one who gets up or down about fixtures because you have to play them all at some point and you could say we have a difficult start but this may be the best time to play these teams.

“The reality starts to sink in now off the pitch in terms of knowing where we need to get to in order to host these types of occasions and, on the pitch, where we need to be to compete against teams which are established at this level.”

Rovers return to pre-season training on Monday.
