FORMER Somerset legend Alfonso Thomas rolled back the years to bag a six-wicket haul to crush Frocester at Bridgwater.

Thomas’s initial burst reduced the visitors to 120-7, but, Perera with 25 and Tom Drake with 13 lifted the score to 166.

Frocester were dismissed for 166 in 43.2 overs. Qureshi, Gegg and Wand all scored 20s for Frocester as they struggled to 67-4.

Ross Martin picked up an early wicket for Frocester but Bridgwater batted solidly to reach their target in the 41st over for the loss of 5 wickets. Frocester now drop into the relegation zone with a visit to Bath next Saturday.

Frocester 2nd X1 maintained their challenge for the WEPL Gloucestershire title with a 32 run victory over Chipping Sodbury.

Frocester batted first and reached a total of 232 all out in the 49th over. Harry Senior got Frocester off to a good start with a fine innings of 45, but at 77-3, the youthful middle order responded well with Chad Trainor ((29), Amit Patel (23) and Chris Whincup (19) lifting the total to 174-5.

Dan Cave top scored with 52 and Mark Glew provided great support with 29 as Frocester reached a total of 232. Dan Cave, Dan Huxstep and Chris Whincup each took two wickets and then Chad Trainor bowled 10 tight overs for 36 runs to take Frocester to victory. They now lie second in the league, 5 points behind Dumbleton.

On Sunday, Frocester lost to Bishopston by 9 runs in the quarter-final of the County Cup.

Bishopston scored 192-9. The Frocester reply was led by Harry Senior who made a very promising 88 and he was well-supported by Louis Gegg who made 40. This took the total to 84-2, but then there were no substantial partnerships and Frocester fell 9 runs short.
